Spring Registration is Open!

Registration for the 2012 McKinney Little League Spring season is now open through February 17th and the new season will start in March. If you are a returning player, please contact your coach – prior to registering - to obtain a NEW pin number so that you can be placed on the proper team. Players not on a roster will be placed via a blind draft. Please remember that your child’s league age is determined by his or her age as of April 30, 2012. All players will be allowed to “play up” one year (i.e. a 10 year old will be allowed to play in the Majors division with 11 and 12 year olds). 

Coaches will need to send an email to the Registrar (registration@mckinneyllb.com) to request a pin number and team name. Coaches will need to fill out the background check form (HERE) and turn it in to a league official or at the coaches meeting.

1. Online registration, pay with a credit card. If you are a protected player returning to a team, be sure you have the coaches pin code. This will place you on that coaches team and you will not need to sign the player protection form. Click here to register online

REMEMBER, TO BE A PROTECTED PLAYER, YOU MUST SELECT THE PROTECTED PLAYER CHECKBOX -AND- FILL OUT THE PLAYER PROTECTION FORM OR USE THE PIN CODE.

Below is the email sent out by Williamsport this morning concerning the new bat rules for 2012.

In a nutshell, the 2 ¼” bats used in LL and under remain the same, with the moratorium on composite-barreled bats still in effect. Only approved 2 ¼’composite-barreled bats can be used in these divisions.

For Junior League, any composite-barreled bat MUST meet BBCOR standards and be labeled as such. All BBCOR standard bats have a “drop” of no more than -3. Any non-composite barreled bat (metal, metal alloy or wood) can be used with no limitations on “drop” weight.

Senior and Big League, all non-wood bats MUST conform to BBCOR standards. This should not be an issue, as both the National Federation of High Schools and the NCAA, are using the same rule regarding bats.

Also, the definition of an illegal bat and the penalty have changed.

The link included in the email lists both the changes and how the new rule 1.10, 2.00 – Definition of an Illegal Bat, and 6.06 (d) will be published.

You can drop off your equipment bag this Saturday at Advantage Storage. 3080 Alma Rd, between 10 & 12. If are unable to drop the bag off, please make arrangements with your league commissioner. For the Minor Coaches, you can contact me if you can not drop your bag off.
